What Our People Have To Say
Scott Calliham
Senior Consultant, MSIA, Graduate School of Industrial Administration,
Carnegie Mellon University, 1997
In the financial services industry, fast change and consolidations
have blurred distinctions among commercial banks, merchant acquirers,
third-party processors, electronic funds networks, and insurance
companies (the list goes on and on). As a result, the amount
of work and creativity demanded from consultants just keeps
increasing.
If you’re a person who seeks continuously challenging
assignments and welcomes the fast pace of financial services,
this company is a great place to be. In the relatively short
time I’ve been at First Annapolis, I’ve worked on
strategy engagements for several regional ATM networks, merger
and acquisition analysis in credit card issuing negotiations,
market research, and contract negotiations involving pricing
and legal concerns, among others.
The variety of work we do is staggering for a firm that is fairly
specialized within the financial services industry. Our specialization
is a great advantage for our clients – we have so much
experience here, so much expertise. And because enormous emphasis
is placed on getting the job done for clients, you are ensured
all the resources you need to get your job done. With so little
bureaucracy, I can hop into anyone’s office and ask, "Hey,
have you worked on a deal like this one? What do you think about
this idea, this approach?" You’re always encouraged
to think creatively and act entrepreneurially. No one works
in a vacuum. You get a lot of help from everyone here.
I chose this firm because I felt that I would enjoy working
with anyone here. And I will tell you that we work hard. Yet
there’s never been an issue of "would I want to spend
12 hours with this person or that? Would I want to go on the
road with these people?" The answer is always "yes."
People at First Annapolis are rare. Their intellectual talent
is incredible, yet they retain a humble attitude. Not only are
they great to work with, they are also great to have as friends.
