In addition to his duties as Managing Partner of First Annapolis, Marc Abbey leads the company’s Acquiring practice and has been responsible for the firm’s international expansion, resulting most recently in the opening of an office in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Since joining First Annapolis at its inception in 1991, Marc has advised clients throughout North America, South America, and Europe and has been involved in nearly all of the merchant acquiring-related consulting assignments and M&A transactions handled by the firm.
Marc has demonstrated his expertise in the electronic payments industry through a wide array of consulting engagements. He has provided strategic support and competitive analysis for major payment card networks, advised both regional and transnational merchant acquirers on customer relationship management, and influenced some of the largest and most significant acquiring alliances in Europe, the U.S., and Latin America. Marc has written extensively about the Acquiring business.
Prior to joining First Annapolis, Marc worked at commercial banks (C&S/Sovran Corporation, CoreStates Financial Corporation) and in the financial services consulting industry (Furash & Company).
Marc received his MBA with concentrations in marketing, finance, and organizational behavior from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a B.S. in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
