Marc AbbeyManaging Partner
Marc Abbey focuses on the merchant acquiring, transaction processing,
and card issuing businesses. His areas of specialization include
strategy development, financial management and analysis, customer
relationship management, marketing research, and business valuation.
Marc has been at First Annapolis since its inception and has
held a variety of roles including Director of Research. Previously,
he served as a Strategic Planning Project Manager at C&S/Sovran
Corporation where he focused on retail delivery and CRA compliance
issues. Prior to that, he worked in the Electronic Payment Services
division at CoreStates Financial Corporation where he participated
in the “Icon Services” research and development
effort at the MAC regional ATM network. Marc began his career
as a Senior Research Analyst at Furash & Company, a financial
services consulting firm, where he consulted for retail banking
and transaction processing clients.
Marc has lectured at various conferences, seminars, client executive
forums, and user groups nationally and has trained senior managers
in the United States and abroad in MasterCard sponsored training
sessions. He has spoken on topics including mergers & acquisitions,
outsourcing pros and cons, and the technical challenges associated
with purchasing cards. He has published articles in the industry
press on issues ranging from attrition analysis to payment system
development cycles.
Marc received his M.S. in management with concentrations in
marketing, finance, and organizational behavior from the J.L.
Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University
and a B.S. in business administration from the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
